The Stockholm-Tokyo University Partnership Workshop, ‘Living longer and healthier in an ageing world’ took place at the Nobel Forum at Karolinska Institutet on the 21-22 September 2017. The workshop’s aim was to initiate collaborations between Stockholm (Stockholm University, Karolinska Insitutet, and KTH Royal Institute of Technology) and Japan (University of Tokyo) in ageing research.

 

Professor Ilona Koupil from CHESS gave a presentation on ‘Early life determinants of healthy ageing’ which included many studies from The Uppsala Birth Cohort Multigenerational Study.

 

The event marks the commeration of the 150th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Sweden. The workshop was inaugurated by Queen Silvia of Sweden and she also attended the morning session of presentations on Thursday 21 September.
