Last week, The Swedish Research Council for Health, Working Life and Welfare (Forte) announced that they will continue to support the project entitled, ‘Body size. Mental health and inequalities: a life course perspective (BMI)’ for a further two years for a total of 630 000 SEK. The project is led by Professor Ilona Koupil and is in collaboration with South African researchers, Dr Zandile Mchiza and Dr Whadi-ah Parker, from the Human Science Research Council (SA).

The project aims to investigate the social and developmental origins and consequences of overweight and obesity, negative body image, disordered eating and impaired psychological well-being across the life course and across generations of parents and children in Sweden and South Africa.
